Scot A. Lytle, 63, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the evening of Thursday, April 5, 2018, at Falling Spring Nursing & Rehabilitation, Chambersburg.
He was born on June 3, 1954, in Chambersburg, a son of Glenn R. Lytle and the late A. Louise Hoch Lytle. Known by many as “Scooter,” Scot was a 1972 graduate of Shippensburg High School and shortly thereafter enlisted in the U.S Air Force on October 15, 1972. He was honorably discharged on October 15, 1976, after serving in Thailand and South Korea as a weapons mechanic.
Scot was a long-haul truck driver for over twenty-five years; then worked at JLG in Shippensburg, as a forklift driver for eight years; and also owned and operated his own dump truck/hauling business for several years.
Scot enjoyed watching and attending NASCAR races and hunting. In his younger years, he liked to drag race and work on classic cars. Scot enjoyed boating and water skiing at Raystown Lake and he also enjoyed snow skiing. Throughout his life, Scot was always well known for his good nature and wonderful sense of humor.
In addition to his father, Glenn, he is survived by his sister, Glenda L. (Larry) Bistline of Shippensburg; his niece, Heidi R. (Alan) Guyer of Shippensburg; his nephew, Rodney S. (Jennifer) Bistline of Shippensburg; seven great nieces and nephews, Levi and Kyrie Guyer and Rebecca, Joel, Leanna, Ella, and Greta Bistline; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Scot was preceded in death by his mother.
His memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, April 12, 2018, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastors Jim Rogers, Heidi Guyer, and Rodney Bistline will officiate. Interment, with military honors, will follow in the Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shippensburg First Church of God Beneficent Fund at 121 East King St. Shippensburg, PA 17257, to help those in need, within the Shippensburg community.
