Scherris Middaugh

Scherris Louise Horn Middaugh, 72 of Shippensburg, died Wednesday, February 5, 2014 in the Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Tuesday, April 1, 1941 in Galesburg, IL, Knox County, she was a daughter of the late John Teel and Evelyn Carroll Bowen.

Scherris was a 1959 graduate of the Knoxville Senior High School, Knoxville, IL, and was of the Protestant Faith. She worked in private home care as an LPN retiring in 1992, and also worked as a seamstress at various locations. Scherris loved playing games and building puzzles.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Gerald W. “Jack” Horn, Sr.

She is survived by one son, Gerald W. Horn, Jr., and his companion Dianna, of Middleton, DE; two daughters, Sherri “Fuzzy” Turpin and Penny S. Staley and her husband Jeffrey, all of Shippensburg; one brother, Raymond Teel and one sister, Patricia Rohrer both of Galesburg, IL. Also surviving are four step-brothers, Dick, Billy, Bobby and Jerry Bowen, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services and burial will be private. Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of funeral arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph’s Indian School, P.O. Box 326, Chamberlain, SD 57326.
