Saundra L. Thomas, 74, of Shippensburg, died Thursday, March 17, 2011.
She was born December 27, 1936 in Shippensburg. Saundra was a daughter of the late Albert Stanton and June A. Robinson Dorsey.
She retired from the former American Can Company in Chambersburg. Saundra was a member of the Brownsville Church of God and taught the Adult Women’s Sunday School Class. She also was on their Prayer Team, Outreach Team, and taught Vacation Bible School. Saundra was a 1954 graduate of the Shippensburg Area Senior High School and a graduate of the former Wilson Business School in Chambersburg. She was on the committee of the Locust Grove Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David R. Thomas who died July 29, 2007, a daughter, Danelle Thomas, and a brother, Albert Stanton.
Surviving are four sons; Kevin R. Thomas and his wife Jaymie of Gettysburg, Scott J. Thomas and his wife Robin, and Eric B. Thomas and his wife Dory all of Shippensburg, and James E. Thomas and his wife Natascha of Newville, two daughters; Karen J. Thomas of Shippensburg, and Tracey Gaines and her husband Richard of New York, two sisters; Gloria Poindexter of Pittsburgh, and Beverly Ann Stanton of Gettysburg, eleven grandchildren, two great-great granddaughters, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2011 in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg at 2 p.m. Officiating will be The Rev. Victor Johnson. Burial will be in the Locust Grove Cemetery. The viewing will be Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
