Sarah J. Heefner, 86, a resident at the Orrstown Personal Care Home for the past five years, died Friday, October 3, 2014 in the home.
She was born July 9, 1928 in Shippensburg, PA. Sarah was a daughter of the late Urie E. and Blanche S. Rotz Chamberlin. Sarah was also preceded in death by a two sisters, Helen Chamberlin and Bertha Yocum, and a brother James Chamberlin.
Sarah worked at U-Wanna Wash Frock Company until their closing and then was a cook for the Durff-Kuhn VFW Post # 6168, Shippensburg. As a member of their Ladies Auxiliary she was the Chairman of the Veteran’s Hospitals for 25 years. Sarah attended the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Chambersburg and enjoyed sewing, crocheting and crafts.
She is survived by three daughters, Helen (Robert) Runshaw, and Ruth (Wesley) Keefer all of Shippensburg, and Martha (Stuart) Poe of Greencastle, two brothers, Berkley and Dean Chamberlin both of Shippensburg, nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 8, 2014 in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg at 2 p.m. Officiating will be The Rev. Jeff McCracken and The Rev. Milton R. Herrold, Jr. Burial will be in Otterbein Cemetery. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Food Bank at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, 230 Siloam Road, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
