Sara Jane Lutz Foreman, 94, of Shippensburg, joined her beloved husband John William Foreman for eternity on March 30, 2021.
The daughter of the late Walter and Ruth Lutz, she spent her life on the West Creek Road farm where she raised and is survived by her two sons, John (wife Patti) of Ocean View, DE and Michael (wife Ellen) of State College, PA.
She attended the one-room Mowersville Elementary school and graduated from Shippensburg High School. When her sons reached school age, she joined the Chambersburg school district cafeteria working for many years at Lurgan Elementary School where she could keep an eye on her boys. In her final years with the district, she worked at the high school and then became a part-time caregiver forging a loving friendship with Vanessa Sims.
In her free time, she loved gardening, walking, and sewing, especially her beautiful square dance dresses, a pastime that she and John took up after they retired. Her grandchildren Nikolai Foreman of Houston and Ena Foreman of State College will forever remember summer vacations spent at “grandma and pap” camp where they learned, among other things how to fish—as long as grandma baited the hook. Additionally, she is survived by grandchildren Renee Cohee of St. Louis, MO and Jorge Delgado of Ocean City, MD and two great-grandchildren, Wesley and Mitchell Cohee also of St. Louis. She is predeceased in death by her sister Anna Mae Strawmyre and brother William Lutz. In her final years, as she became debilitated by Alzheimer’s, she became part of the Orrstown Personal Care Home family. Sara’s family is especially grateful to her friends from the community, the Otterbein Church, and especially Elaine Swartz, her daughter Carly, and all the staff at Orrstown.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 9, 2021 in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc. at 2 p.m. Officiating will be the Pastor Bruce Levy and Pastor John A. Ile, Jr. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services in the funeral home.
