Sara E. Black, 94, of Shippensburg, died on Monday, July 18, 2011, at the Shippensburg Health Care Center.

Born on September 25, 1916, in Shippensburg, a daughter of the late David E. and Laura Helm Spangler.

Sara was an employee of Knouse Foods, Biglerville retiring after many years of work.

She is survived by two sons, Ike W. (Mary) Black, Jr, of Shippensburg, and Walter D. Coffey of Shippensburg; one brother, Herman Spangler of Boiling Springs; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ike W. Black, Sr., who died on December 12, 1995; and two sisters, Mary Ortiz and Thelma Black.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2011, in the Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle. The Rev. James O. Bolich will officiate. There will be no public viewing or visitation. The Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg, has been entrusted with Sara’s funeral arrangements.

The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Odyssey Hospice at 4660 East Trindle Road Camp Hill, PA 17011.
