Sandra J. Rice, 59, of Shippensburg, died Sunday, May 6, 2012 in her home after a six month battle with cancer.
Born August 15, 1952 in Carlisle, Cumberland County, she was a daughter of Dorothy A. Stone Kelley of Carlisle and the late Harvey O. Kelley.
Sandra was a member of Green Spring Brethren in Christ Church, Newville. Sandra was an assistant manager of the former Mr. B’s convenience store for over thirteen years and worked eight years at Outlook Pointe both in Shippensburg. She was a 1971 graduate of Big Spring High School.
In addition to her mother she is survived by her husband, Rodney E. Rice who would have been celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary May 13, 2012, two sons, Randall E. Rice and daughter-in-law Andrea Rice of Shippensburg, and Reuben N. Rice of Newville, one daughter, Rachel R. Shaw and her husband Matthew of Carlisle, one brother, Dexter Kelley of Carlisle, three grandchildren, Alisha and Jacob Rice, and Roman Shaw and twelve foster children.
In addition to her father she was preceded in death by a nephew, Matthew Kelley.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 10, 2012 at 3 p.m. in the Green Spring Brethren in Christ Church, Newville with The Rev. Larry A. Strouse officiating. Burial will be private. A viewing will be held in the Green Spring B.I.C. Wednesday evening from 6-9 p.m. and one hour prior to the services.
