Samuel Kenneth Helman, 90, of Shippensburg, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born Monday, December 8, 1930 in Hustontown, Fulton County, he was a son of the late Samuel Robert and Retta Ellen Cooper Helman.
He was a 1949 graduate of Hustontown High School. He was employed at Domestic Pump in Shippensburg with 17 years of service, prior to retiring in 1993 from Letterkenny Army Depot.
Sam was a member of the Middle Spring Presbyterian Church in Shippensburg. He was a member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223, Durff-Kuhn VFW Post # 6168, Vigilant Hose Co. #1, all in Shippensburg, Good Sam Camping Club in Carlisle, PA.
Sam enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He loved and cherished his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be truly missed by everyone that knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, E. Marie Zimmerman Helman, whom he married June 11, 1952; one daughter, Sharon H. (Greg) Keefer, Shippensburg; two sisters, Freda (Laren) G. Glunt, Hustontown, and Juanita (Howard) Hoffman; Chambersburg, one brother, Ralph Helman, Hustontown; son in-law, Rick N. Boyd, Newburg; five grandchildren, Scott J. Boyd, Patrick Gallo, III, Jillian N. Caldwell, Mandy L. Smith, and Amy J. Ritchey; 11 great grandchildren, Ashley E. Gallo, Kailey A. Ganoe, Nathaniel D. Hippensteel, Brenton L. Boyd, Jodi A. Gallo, Morgan J.. Caldwell, Jordan D. Paxton, Nolan T. Caldwell, Mason M. Besecker, Remington L. Besecker, and Lela E. Newcomer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Lynne M. Boyd; five brothers, Herman, Warren, Guy, Max, and Clair Helman; and three sisters, Emma Truex, Mary Barrick, and Dorothy Bittinger.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 20, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc., with the Rev. Bill Beck officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, with Military Honors conducted by the Shippensburg American Legion Post #223 Minutemen. A viewing will be held Thursday, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
