Samuel L. Hancock, 76, of Orrstown, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 23, 2017 at his home.
Born Saturday, December 21, 1940 in Shippensburg, he was a son of the late Harper E. and Lena E. Warren Hancock.
Samuel was a United States Army and Air Force Veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He retired from Letterkenny Army Depot where he worked as a truck driver.
He was a life member of the Durff-Kuhn VFW Post # 6168, and a member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223 both in Shippensburg. He was a life member of the LSL Sportsman Club in Orrstown, and a life member of the Retired Sergeants Association in Texas.
Samuel is survived by one son, Michael L. Hancock, Morrisville, NC; and one sister, Peggy Furry, of Chambersburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ferrell Hancock who died February 9, 2008; four brothers, Robert, Richard, Wayne, and Roger Hancock; and three sisters, Patricia Adams, Mary Thayler, and Nancy Hancock.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc., with the Rev. DeVone Cordell officiating. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens with Military Honors conducted by the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223 Honor Guard. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday in the funeral home.
