Ruth V. Stouffer, 86, a resident of Green Ridge Village, Newville, died on Sunday, April 10, 2011.
Born on February 13, 1925, in West Pennsboro Twp., a daughter of the late Floyd T. and Bessie Foltz Gettle.
On June 6, 1947, Ruth married Mr. John W. “Jack” Stouffer at the Newville First Church of God. He preceded her in death on March 7, 2005.
Ruth was a homemaker, also assisted her husband on the family’s dairy and hog farm, and was employed part-time at the Kay & Ray’s Potato Chip factory for over twenty years.
She was a member of the Newville First Church of God, it’s Women’s Ministries group, and a former Sunday School Teacher. She was also a past member of the Mifflin Grange.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Diane L. Porter of Newville; her grandson, John Clayton (Suzana) Porter of Fayetteville, NC; her granddaughter, Susan C. Porter-Wenger of Newville, and three great granddaughters, Izabella Porter and Sabrina and Katie Wenger.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Velva A. Gettle; two brothers, Elmer and Kenneth Gettle; and a half-brother, Caleb Bloser.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2011, at the Newville First Church of God. The Rev. Wayne A Good will officiate. Interment will be in the Newville Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services on Friday, at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Newville First Church of God at 475 Shippensburg Rd. Newville, PA 17241.
