Ruth I. Miller, 78, of Walnut Bottom, died on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Manor Care, Carlisle.
Born on November 15, 1932, in Carlisle, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Edith Mae Finkenbinder Weary.
On July 10, 1953, Ruth married Mr. James Wilson Miller, in Shippensburg.
Ruth was employed at the former Stanley Co., Chambersburg for 15 years, before working for Shippensburg University in food service, retiring after 24 years of employment.
Ruth was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Walnut Bottom. She loved to cook, bake, crochet, and spend time in her flower beds, but her primary focus was always on her family.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, James of Walnut Bottom, one son; Stephen L. Miller of Texas, one daughter; Karen (fiancé Daniel L. Hudson) Grant of Carlisle, five sisters; Betty Tritt, Gayle Mentzer, and Martha Snyder, all of Carlisle and Joanne Shearer and Jean Speck, both of Newville; one granddaughter, Nicole Grant of Carlisle; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and one grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 4, 2011 at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Walnut Bottom. The Rev. Harold A. Bolyard, Jr., will officiate. Interment will be in the Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Viewing will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc. and one hour prior to the service on Monday, at church.
