Ruth Evelyn Durbin, 90, a resident at Menno Haven, formerly of Fayetteville, passed away Thursday, December 16, 2021.
She was born Monday, September 21, 1931 in Shippensburg, PA. Ruth was a daughter of the late Clarence and Helen (Johnston) Durff.
She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Waynesboro. Ruth retired in 1986 from United Optical, Hagerstown, where she was an Optician for 14 years. She and her husband John retired in Penn National Estates and were the co-owners of R & J Art Works specializing in artwork and framing. Ruth was a member of various art organizations. She was a 1949 graduate of the Shippensburg Area Senior High School. Ruth was an accomplished self-taught artist in the tri state area. She painted and taught for over 30 years. Her art was shown in many galleries and shows.
In addition to her parents Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, John Harold “Jack” Durbin who passed away September 22, 2008. A grandson, Daniel Gary Webb, a brother, Jesse Durff and a sister, Sarah Smith are also deceased.
Ruth is survived by two sons, Scott E. (Penny J.) Durbin of Fayetteville and Robert E. Durbin of Cumberland, MD, one daughter, Linda Ann (Brian S.) Conrad of Greencastle, three grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at 10 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Officiating will be The Rev. Dennis Beaver. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 5-7 p.m. in the funeral home
