Russell Allen

Russell H. Allen, 78, of Shippensburg, died Monday, January 10, 2011 in the Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
Born May 13, 1932 in Shippensburg, PA, he was a son of the late Howard and Mary Naugle Allen.
He retired after 40 years of employment at Hoffman Mills in Shippensburg. Russell was a long time member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223 and served on their board of directors, he and was a life member of both the Vigilant Hose Company and Minnequa Social Club all in Shippensburg. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and a graduate of the Shippensburg High School. Russell was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting and fishing and in the past was a very active member of the Shippensburg Fly Fishing Club
He is survived by one son, Stanley R. Allen and his wife Cathy, one grandson, Branson H. Allen, and one granddaughter, Carlee R. Allen all of Shippensburg.
In addition to his parents Russell was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy L. “Louise” Baker Allen who died August 14, 2005 and numerous brothers and sisters are also deceased.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, January 13, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg. Officiating will be The Rev. Paul K. Hauk. A viewing will be held Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg.
