Roy A. Yeingst, Sr., 67, of Newville passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, November 9, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.
Born Saturday, December 17, 1955, he was a son of the late Martha Diven and Samuel Yeingst, Sr.. Roy was a veteran of the United States Army enlisting on March 4, 1974 and honorably discharged on March 3, 1977. He married Teresa Watt Yeingst in 1990 in Newville.
Roy worked as a mechanic for 38 years at Carlisle SynTec Systems and Carlisle Tire and Wheel. He also worked at the paper mill in Mt. Holly Springs where he retired from in August of 2022. Throughout his life, he spent time fishing, hunting, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles, and building fly fishing rods. Roy was always good at working with his hands. He was a member of the Newville American Legion Post #421.
In addition to his wife of 33 years, Roy is survived by a step-daughter, Robin (Doug) Weaver of Newville; six grandchildren, Tyler Wiley, Morgan Wiley, Talan Wiley, Madeline Wiley, Chase Weaver, and Zach Weaver; a son Roy A. Jr.; a daughter Amanda; four siblings Samuel Yeingst, Jr., of Carlisle, Robert Yeingst of Gettysburg, Dorothy Jumper of Florida, and Harry Yeingst of Nevada; and many nieces and nephews.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, George Yeingst and James Yeingst; two sisters, Betty Smith and Peggy Brown.
His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. with Pastor Dan Culbertson officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service on Wednesday morning at the funeral home.
