Roy C. Wenger, 85, a life-long resident of Newburg, died on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at his home.
He was born on December 28, 1926, in Newburg, a son of the late Harry L. and Ruth L. Coleman Wenger. Roy was a 1944 graduate of Shippensburg High School. Upon graduation, Roy enlisted in the U.S. Army to serve in WW II, on November 12, 1945 and was honorably discharged on November 23, 1946.
Roy was employed at the former SKF Industries, Shippensburg, as a Production Superintendant, retiring in 1985, after 38 years of service. His work ethic was second to none, giving long hours to the work he loved.
He was a member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion, Post #223, Shippensburg. He enjoyed politics and would debate it to great lengths, and was always up for a good game of pinochle. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were his greatest joy and made his eyes sparkle when they visited.
Roy is survived by three daughters, Sharon D. (Richard) Reese of York Springs, Wilma L. (Frank) Eiselman of Newburg, and Lisa R. (Greg Mlotkowski) of Grosse Pointe, MI; two sons, Keith R. Wenger of Newburg and Kim H. (Dorothy) Wenger of Newburg; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline C. Daihl Wenger, who died on April 13, 2008; and three brothers, Paul W., B. Theodore and D. Lee Wenger.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 12, 2012, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. Richard Reese and Rev. John Byers will officiate. Interment with military honors, conducted by the Shippensburg Area Veterans Council, will follow in the Pleasant Hall Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services on Monday, at the funeral home.
