Roy Edward Sherman

Roy Edward Sherman, 73, of Shippensburg, passed away at his home on Saturday, February 5, 2011.
Born on March 3, 1937, in Doylesburg, PA, a son of the late Thomas Dean and Nettie Mae Miley Sherman.
Roy proudly served his country and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps., enlisting on May 28, 1957 and honorably discharged on April 2, 1959.
In addition to being a heavy equipment operator for Valley Quarries for many years, Roy worked for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, as a Tunnel Guard, retiring in 1997.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and a member of the LSL Sportsman Association. Roy enjoyed spending time with his many friends at the Shippensburg Area Senior Center in Cleversburg. His passions included playing and performing bluegrass music and building and riding motorcycles.
Roy is survived by two sons Thomas R. Sherman and wife Lori and Timothy S. Sherman, both of Orrstown; three daughters, Robbin L. Maynard of Shippensburg, Rhonda S. Carroll of Orrstown, and Tammy J. Sherman of Upper Strasburg; five grandchildren; one great grandson; one brother, G. James Sherman of Orrstown; and one sister, Betty M. Weaver of Shippensburg.
There will be a private graveside service, at Parklawns Memorial Gardens, with military honors conducted by the Shippensburg Area Veterans Council. A viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., on Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg.
