Roy Reese

Roy H. Reese, 80, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the evening of Sunday, September 2, 2018.

He was born on December 22, 1937, in Chambersburg, a son of the late Frank and Anna Mary Hull Reese.
Roy was a 1955 graduate of Big Spring High School. He married Barbara A. Palmer on June 28, 1985, in Newville.

Roy was employed at the former J.C. Wentzel and Son for forty-two years, where he drove a vending route and was known as the “Candy Man”, retiring in 2005. He was a member of the Oakville U.M.C. and the Oakville Ruritan Club.

In his younger years, Roy enjoyed bowling, golfing, and fishing with his older brother. Visiting with his brothers and sisters is something Roy has missed since they all have passed. He always liked to sit on his front porch and swing on the glider. Roy loved all of his dogs over the years and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife of thirty-three years, Barbara; four children, Deb (Larry) Yorlets of Carlisle, Jeff (JoEllen) Reese of Shippensburg, Judi Reese of Shippensburg, and Ann (James) Davidson of Shippensburg; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Kreamer Reese, who died in May of 1972; two brothers; and three sisters.

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, September 7, 2018, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Deborah Ryder will officiate. Interment will follow in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be two hours prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter.
