Roy F. Piper, Jr., 72, of Orrstown, died Wednesday, May 21, 2014 peacefully with his family by his side.
Roy was born January 6, 1942 in Chambersburg. He was a son of the late Roy F. Piper, Sr. and M. Louise Jones Karper.
Roy was a member of Mongul United Brethren Church, Shippensburg. He was a retired truck driver, driving for over 30 years. Roy was a graduate of the Shippensburg Area Senior High School. He was a member of the Hub City Club, Minnequa Social Club, Durff-Kuhn VFW Post # 6168, and the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223, all in Shippensburg. Roy enjoyed hunting, driving for, and hanging out with the local Amish.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy A. Mathna Piper, five children, Rod (Brenda) Piper, and Lori (Bruce) Tindal, all of St. Thomas, Eric Piper of Chambersburg, Mike (Millie) Piper of Newburg, and Lori (Dwane) Wileman of Upper Strasburg, one step-son, Rick Shoemaker of Newville, one step-daughter, Patty Shaffer of Orrstown, one sister, Catherine (Ray) Washinger of Shippensburg, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2014 in the Mongul United Brethren Church, Shippensburg at 11 a.m. Officiating will be The Rev. Rocky W. Spear. Burial will be in Mongul Cemetery. A viewing will be held Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Shippensburg.
