Roy Butler

Roy W. Butler, 84, life-long resident of Newville, departed this life on the morning of Thursday, February 22, 2018, at his home.
He was born on May 31, 1933, in Newville, a son of the late Frank and Ellen Bittinger Butler and married Reba C. Shunk on June 26, 1961.
Roy worked as a truck driver for various companies throughout his life. When he wasn’t driving truck, you could be sure to find him woodworking in his shop at home.
In addition to his wife of fifty-eight years, Reba, he is survived by his daughter, Darlene (Richard) Beaston of Newville; long-time friend and caregiver, Scott Kelly of Newville; brother, Melvin Butler of Carlisle; sister, Doris Butler of Chambersburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his son, Richard S. Butler, who died on November 4, 2012; two brothers, Robert and Frank Butler; and one sister, Grace Perkins.
A private memorial service will be held at Roy’s home at a future date and time. There will be no public viewing or visitation. The Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg, has been entrusted with his funeral arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Celtic Hospice and Home Health at 900 Century Drive #201, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
