Rosey Stoner

June 26, 1929 — January 28, 2013

Rosey M. “Rose” Marie Stoner, 83, of Shippensburg, died Monday, January 28, 2013 in the Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle.

She was born June 26, 1929 in Walnut Bottom, PA. Rose was a daughter of the late George A. and Nellie Grace Zell Bowermaster.

Rose retired from Shippensburg University in 1990, where she was a custodial supervisor. She was a member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, Chambersburg and the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223, Ladies Auxiliary Shippensburg. Rose was a very outgoing and generous person who loved to socialize and shop. She was always one to help others; Rose generously contributed to the Disabled American Veterans, the Bethesda Mission and other charities.

Rose is survived by three sons, Kenneth E. Stoner, Jr. and his wife Linda and Wayne P. Stoner and his wife Jennie all of Mechanicsburg, Ronnie E. Stoner and his wife Nancy Tannalfo Stoner of Windham, NH, two daughters, Bonnie L. Hockley and her husband Raymond and Connie Marie Stoner all of Carlisle. She also leaves stepsons Thomas Stoner and his wife Chris, and Wayne E. Stoner of Illinois. Additionally she leaves 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth E. “Whitey” Stoner, Sr. who died January 23, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her son, Carl L. Hosfelt, two sisters, Janet Hartman and Elizabeth Rhone, seven brothers, Charles, William, Arthur, Elmer, Earl, Walter, and Harry Bowermaster.

A viewing will be held Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Shippensburg. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Jeff McCracken and Rev. Dennis D. Chisholm. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rosey Stoner Missionary Fund, c/o Christian Missionary & Alliance Church, 230 Siloam Road, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
