Rose Yocum

Rose A. Yocum, 82, of 106 E. Burd Street, Shippensburg, died Saturday, July 2, 2011, in her home.

Born May 17, 1929, in Waynesboro, she was a daughter of Maurice F. Sr. and Opal C. Hancock Eyler.

Rose was a 1947 graduate of Shippensburg Area Senior High School, where she served as class Secretary. She was a former member of the American Business Women’s Association and was a member of the Messiah United Methodist Church for over fifty years.
She was previously employed by Kelly Roofing and Insulation as a secretary, United Telephone Company as a switch board operator, J.A. Hargleroad and Sons Butcher Shop as a clerk, Letterkenny Army Depot as a payroll clerk, and Forget-Me-Not-Florist. She also served as Clerk of Elections for the Shippensburg Middle Ward.
Rose is survived by two sons; Robert D. Yocum and wife Joyce of Shippensburg and Charles R. Yocum, Jr. and wife Carla of Carlisle, 2 daughters; Bonnie K. Boyles of Chambersburg and Karen L. Cameron and husband Michael of Shippensburg, 4 sisters; Janet L. Frey, Patsy M. Rodgers, Jane Sheffler, and Diann Barnhart, 1 brother; Richard E. Eyler, 9 grandchildren; Gregory S. Yocum, Ryan D. Yocum, Ashlyn R. Yocum, Katryn A. Yocum, Willa G. Yocum, Riley M. Cameron, Lewis M. Cameron, Michaela L. Cameron, and Patrick B. Boyles, II, and 1 great-grandchild; Chase W. Yocum.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Charles R. “Dick” Yocum who died October 10, 1995, 2 brothers; Maurice F. Eyler and Charles D. Eyler, and a sister; Nancy L. Spero.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc. with the Rev. Kevin E. Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Messiah United Methodist Church, 30 S. Penn St., Shippensburg, PA 17257 or Heartland Hospice, 1200 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle, PA 17013.
