Ronnie L. Lynch, 71, of Shippensburg, died on the morning of Friday, October 9, 2015, at the Chambersburg Hospital, after an extensive battle with cancer.
He was born on March 12, 1944, in Cleversburg, a son of the late William Herman and Nellie Helm Lynch. Ronnie married Patricia G. “Patty” Winters on March 9, 1965, at the Mainsville U.B.C. She preceded him in death on November 15, 2008.
Ronnie was employed as an electrician for the Beistle Co., for 35 years. He was a member of the West End Fire and Rescue, the South Newton Township Volunteer Fire Co., and the Minnequa Social Club; life member of the Hub City Club; a social member of the Durff-Kuhn V.F.W.; and a member of the Son of the American Legion/Oscar M. Hykes American Legion, #223, Shippensburg.
Ronnie loved anything to do with the mountains; camping, hunting, fishing, cutting his own fire wood or “logging”, or just simply taking walks. In his younger years he was a Cub Scout Master. He was a famous change saver and had quite an impressive knife collection. Ronnie was well known around the area for helping cook chicken at fundraisers for many of the organizations that he spent countless hours volunteering for.
He is survived by his daughter, Tina A. (Ronald) Johns of Newburg; two sons, Larry L. Lynch and Carl L. Lynch, both of Shippensburg; two brothers, Gerry (Jane) Lynch and Kenneth (Betty) Lynch, both of Shippensburg; two sisters, Nancy Hippensteel and Millie Weller, both of Shippensburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and spouse, Ronnie was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
His funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Barbara A. Servello will officiate. Interment will follow in the Cleversburg Cemetery. Viewing will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
