Ronald L. Varner, 75, of Newburg, passed away the morning of Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at the Chambersburg Hospital.
He was born on Sunday, March 30, 1947 in Carlisle, a son of the late Earl and Kathryn (Nearons) Varner.
Ron retired from the Beistle Company and later operated his own food wagon and catering business. He also ran the kitchen on bingo nights at the Shippensburg Firefighters Activity Center for 15 years. Ron enjoyed going to drawings and playing bingo at the various local fire companies. He was a member of the Big Spring Masonic Lodge #361, Big Spring Fish & Game, and Vigilant Hose Company, Shippensburg.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara A. (Nailor) Varner of Newburg; one son, David L. Varner of Newburg; two grandsons, Justin Varner of Shippensburg and David L. Varner, Jr. of Camp Pendleton, CA; three sisters, Peggy (M. Wayne) Hensel, Joyce (Dave) Staver, and Debra (Rodney) Stouffer; and one brother, Gerald E. (Evelyn) Varner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Timothy Varner; and one sister, Janet Varner.
A viewing will be held on Monday, September 12, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. There will be no service at this time.
