Ronald J. Shields

Ronald J. Shields, 81, of Shippensburg, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2024 at the Shippensburg Health Care Center.

Born Tuesday, April 27, 1943 in Centerville, Cumberland County, he was a son of the late George and Loretta Yohe Shields.

Ronald was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was a truck driver for Snoke’s Excavating & Paving Inc., with 25 years of service.

He was an avid NASCAR fan. Ron enjoyed going to flea markets, going to breakfast every day at the Greyhound Restaurant, and served as a driver for local Mennonite families.

Ron is survived by one son, Rocky E. (Rhonda) Gossert; and one grandson, Damien L. (girlfriend Taylor Pennabaker) Gossert, all of Shippensburg.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel C. (Parks) Shields, who passed away January 11, 2012; and one brother, William Shields.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc. Pastor Bruce Levy will officiate. Burial will be private. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, at the funeral home. Military Honors will be conducted by the Minutemen of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223, in the funeral home parking lot.
