Ronald J. ‘Jack” Rine, 71, of Orrstown, died on the morning of Sunday, March 29, 2015, at the Orrstown Personal Care Home.
He was born on July 11, 1943, in Orrstown, a son of the late Harry “Mike” and Vera Culbertson Rine. He married Ms. Jane A. Diehl on May 4, 1963 in Hagerstown, MD.
Jack was a stone and brick mason, working for Dale Foust, Wadel Masonry, and Richard Bard. He also worked at the former DeRose Industries, building modular homes for over 20 years.
He was a life-member and past chief of the Pleasant Hall Volunteer Fire Company and in conjunction was also the Civil Defense Director for the area in the 70’s and 80’s. Jack was a member of the Hub City Club, the L.S.L. Sportsman’s Club, and the Roxbury Horseshoe Club. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, picking berries, hunting mushrooms, was an extremely avid hunter, and just generally liked being outdoors. Over the past three years Jack did a tremendous job of being a constant caregiver for his wife.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jane; two sons, Scott (Lisa) Rine and Tom (Cheryl) Rine, both of Orrstown; five grandsons, Daulton and Duncan Rine, Jarret and Mitchell Rine, and Justin Hoover; two sisters, Thelma R. Keefer of Fayetteville and Eleanor (Richard) Schrum of Hanover; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by two brothers, Lee and Jay Rine.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. Dr. Cheryl A. Houser will officiate. Interment will follow in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
