Ronald M. Holtry, 81, passed away, Saturday, June 13, 2015 in the Chambersburg Hospital.
He was born December 17, 1933 in Shippensburg. Ronald was the son of the late Charles Melvin and Daisy Marie Coffey Holtry.
He retired as Budget Director, DESCOM, at Letterkenny Army Depot. Ronald was a member of the Leesburg United Methodist Church since 1949. He served as Church and Charge Treasurer; Sunday School Superintendent; Chairperson, Administrative Council; Parsonage Trustee; Parish Relations Committee, and other positions.
He was a life member and past Master of the Cumberland Valley Lodge # 315 F. & A.M., Shippensburg; Harrisburg Consistory; Shippensburg Scottish Rite Club; a life member of the George Washington Royal Arch Chapter # 176, Chambersburg; Shippensburg Historical Society; AARP # 2525; NARFE Chapter # 1063; and a life member of the Hub City Club in Shippensburg.
He was a 1951 graduate of the Shippensburg High School, received an Associate Degree in Accounting from the former Carlisle Commercial College, completed additional courses at Shippensburg State College, LaSalle Extension University and Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Ind.
Ronald was a Camp Counselor/Co-Dean at Camp Penn, a Boy Scout Master and Advisor, a Shippensburg Little League Manager/Assistant Manager, and was Coach for the Hughes Super Thrift Women’s Slow Pitch Traveling Softball Team.
Ronald was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his wife, Linda K. Farner Holtry; one son, Richard E. Holtry (Kathy) of Carlisle; one step daughter, Stacey E. Russell (Steve) of Shippensburg; three grandchildren, Christopher Holtry of Chicago, IL, and Hayley and Hannah Bryan both of Shippensburg; two step-grandchildren, Hunter & ReAnna Russell both of Shippensburg; two sisters, Ethel “Mook” Frelin (Joel), and Vonnie Eckenrode both of Shippensburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to sincerely thank the Chambersburg Hospital’s Palliative Care Team, Dr. Kent, Diana, Laura, and Missy; the Nurses at Infusion Services; the Nurses on 3 West; and Community Home Health Care Nurse, Shannon, and Physical Therapist, Doug.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 19, 2015 in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Shippensburg at 10 a.m. Officiating will be The Rev. Barbara A. Servello. Burial will be held in the Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. with Masonic Services conducted at 7:30 p.m.
