Ronald H. ‘Giz” Galbraith, 73, of Newville, died on the afternoon of Sunday, July 21, 2013, at his home, with his wife and close friends who were visiting, by his side.
He was born on November 26, 1939, in Carlisle, a son of the late Harry and Beatrice Shearer Galbraith. Ronald was a graduate of Boiling Springs High School and a U.S Army Veteran, inducted on September 21, 1959 and honorably discharged on September 20, 1965.
Ronald was employed by the former John Walters Paving and Trucking Co., Newville, for many years before he went to work for Anderson Logistics, Carlisle, as a truck driver, retiring in 2006.
In his leisure time, Ronald loved to be outdoors; riding horses, camping, hunting, and fishing. He enjoyed cross-country motorcycle rides on his Harley, with his wife Vickie. Ronald was an original member of the Quarter Aces Hot Rod Club.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Vickie; four children, Ronald Jeffrey Galbraith of Newville, Lisa Lazzario of Ohio, Rusty Sherman of Ohio, and Mindy Williams of Newville; two step-sons, Clinton and Justin Zeigler; two brothers, Robert Galbraith of Montana and Gary Galbraith of Carlisle; one sister, Shirley Mellinger of Newville; five grandchildren; one step-grandson, Hunter A. Zeigler; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
His memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. Philip E. Steele will officiate. Interment will be private. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
