Ronald Lee Appleby, 78, of Shippensburg, Passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born Wednesday, December 6, 1939 in Mongul, Franklin County, he was a son of the late Raymond Blaine and Rosie M. Varner Appleby.
He was a 1958 graduate of the Shippensburg Area Senior High School. He was a member of the Shippensburg Church of the Brethren.
Ron worked as a teen at H&H Chevrolet, then went to work at Valley Pride Bakery until their closing, both in Shippensburg, and later retired from the Shippensburg School District’s Maintenance Department. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Patricia M. Noaker Pittman Appleby whom he married October 7, 1995; five children, Pamela S. (husband Mark) Pierce, Alden, MI, Cindy L. Markle, Mt Holly Springs, James A. (wife Tamara) Appleby, Kansas City, KS, Ruby Ann Samuel, Clinton Township, MI, and Paula Jo (husband Nicholas) Morris, Shippensburg; and one granddaughter, Jasmine Hockley whom they raised, one sister, Helen Henry, Chambersburg; 12 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and two fur babies, Sampson and Madison.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Winifred L. Heberlig, and one brother, Harold Appleby.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, with Pastor Brian Markle, and Pastor Wayne Hall officiating. Burial will be private. A viewing will be held Monday, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday in the funeral home.
