Rolla L. Corle, 72, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the evening of Thursday, August 24, 2017, at LifeCare Hospital, Mechanicsburg.
He was born on December 6, 1944, in East St. Clair Twp., Bedford Co., a son of the late David F. and Althea E. Jordan Corle. Rolla was a 1963 graduate of Chestnut Ridge High School. He married Nancy J. Updegraff on December 27, 1964.
Rolla retired from Roadway Express where he worked as a truck driver for twenty five years. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and hit and miss engines. Rolla liked the challenge of fixing things that were broken. You could often find him working in the garage working with wood or just doing some general tinkering.
In addition to his wife of almost fifty-three years, Nancy, Rolla is survived by two daughters, Tammy S. (Chris) Covert of Orbisonia and Connie S. (Wayne) Shaneberger of Nazareth; one son, Lonnie R. Corle of Shippensburg; four grandchildren, David A. and Noah J. Corle and Haley B. and Dylan W. Shaneberger; two brothers, William H. Corle of Manns Choice and Harry D. Corle of Bedford; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Rolla was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold F. and Charles R. Corle.
His funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. There will be a celebration of his life, a gathering of family and friends, planned for some time in the near future, at his home.
