Roberta Wenger VanDerVeer Beale, 81, of Shippensburg, formerly of Levittown, PA, was called home by Jesus on the afternoon of Sunday April 29, 2012.
She was born on July 7, 1930, in Cape May, NJ, a daughter of the late Fred Godfrey and Erma Campbell Wenger, Sr.
Roberta was a member of the Shippensburg Church of the Nazarene and worked at their Jack and Jill Daycare. She was involved with caring for children throughout her life, teaching in the Bristol Twp., School District in Bucks Co., and at Emilie Christian Day School, Levittown, also Bucks Co., for thirteen years. She attended the Cleversburg Community Center. Socializing was one of Roberta’s many gifts. She loved to be active and excercising; practicing tai-chi, bicycling, walking, and rollerskating. She also loved to take long drives in the scenic mountains of S. Central, PA.
Roberta is survived by her four daughters, Kathy Sherbin of Newtown, Linda Reynolds of Orrstown, Barbara Marks-Drabot of Kingston, and Amy Giagnacova of Bucks Co., PA; one brother, Fred Godfrey Wenger, Jr., of Oklahoma City, OK; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Claire Evans, Janet Hall, and Doris Phillips; and one brother, Stanley Wenger.
Her memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2012, at the Shippensburg Church of the Nazarene at 415 E. Orange St. Shippensburg, PA 17257. The Rev. Blair McKim and Pastor Melissa Mankamyer will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday, at church.
