Robert (Bob) L. Schnitzer, 80, of Shippensburg, and formerly of Amberson, PA went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 2, 2020, at his home.

He was born on November 23, 1939 in Dover, NJ, a son of the late Luther C. and Cecilia L. (Pape) Schnitzer.
Bob spent his childhood and youth in Boonton Township, NJ and was a 1957 graduate of Boonton High School.

Bob moved to Amberson in 1993 and retired from HighMark Blue Shield in 1997 as a computer programmer.
He was a very well loved and respected man. His kindness and generosity to others was very evident, as he lived and demonstrated his Christian faith.

Bob loved adventure. He enjoyed being in the outdoors, taking in all of God’s beauty and nature. He enjoyed deer and elk hunting, having been on an elk hunt in CO with his one son, grandson and two close friends. He also delighted in spending time at his hunting camp in Addison, NY, hunting deer and spending time with his family and friends on these outings and other visits throughout the years. He also enjoyed spending time with his loving companion Lynne at the beach in Ocean City, MD.

After retirement, Bob found pleasure pursuing casual farming and greatly enjoyed helping his many Amberson Valley friends.

Bob attended the Amberson United Methodist Church and was active in different programs and events where he could serve his Lord.

Surviving are his three children, John Schnitzer and wife Jane, Wendy Hummel, Paul Schnitzer and wife Lori, granddaughters Megan Geoghegen and husband Josh, Kim Wilson and husband Ben, grandsons Adam Schnitzer and Michael Clouser and wife Kelly, and great grandchildren: Peyton, Kelsie, Makaela, Connor, Matti and Lydia . He is also survived by two nieces, two nephews and his sister-in-law Mary Schnitzer.
Bob is also survived by his loving companion of seven years, Lynne Price of Shippensburg, and formerly of Dry Run.

In addition to his parent’s, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, John E. Schnitzer and his grandson Nathan Schnitzer.

Bob’s family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to SpiriTrust Lutheran Home Care and Hospice for their kindness, support and dedication to Bob’s care.
