Robert O. Porter, 84, of White Church Road, Shippensburg, died Monday, November 15, 2010 at his home.
Born August 30, 1926 in Shippensburg, he was a son of the late George D. and Edith F. Holtry Porter.
He was a member of the Prince Street United Brethren Church and Co- owner and operator of Porter Brother’s Furniture, both in Shippensburg. Robert was a United States Navy Veteran serving in WWII.
Robert is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty J. Hinkle Porter, one son; Donald W. Porter and his wife Linda, one daughter; Brenda L. Girosky and her husband Robert all of Shippensburg, two brothers; Jack E. Porter and his wife Janice, Shippensburg and Gary L. Porter and his wife Helen, Palm City, FL., sister in-law Genevieve Porter, Chambersburg, three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 19, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc. with the Rev. James O. Bolich and Pastor Timothy Vaughn officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home.
