Robert R. Parsons, 87, of Shippensburg, passed away Friday, June 10, 2016 at the Chambersburg Hospital.
He was born Friday, April 5, 1929 in Burnt Cabins, Fulton County. Robert was a son of the late Aubrey and Annie Jaymes Parsons.
He retired in 1984 from the Radio Section at Letterkenny Army Depot, after over 34 years of service. Robert was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War, serving with the First Calvary Division. He was a member of the Shippensburg Fish & Game Assoc., Fort Morris Chapter AARP, Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223, Durff-Kuhn VFW Post # 6168, and the Minnequa Social Club all in Shippensburg, and the AMVETS Post # 224, Chambersburg. Robert enjoyed being a gunsmith and target shooting.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Kathryn Fleck Parsons whom he married March 24, 1951 in Columbia, SC, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace & Marie Parsons, three brothers, Homer, Kenneth, & Foster Parsons.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 14, 2016 in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. with The Rev. Kenneth Waggoner, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hall Cemetery. A viewing will be held Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
