Robert Myers

April 20, 1938 — January 1, 2021

Robert (Bob) Myers, loving husband and father, 82, returned to his heavenly home on January 1, 2021 after suffering from health issues for many years. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.

Bob was born to the late John and Isabelle Myers, a government worker and homemaker respectively, in Chambersburg, PA on Wednesday April 20, 1938. He felt the call of the Lord to become a minister of the gospel and attended Huntington College and eventually seminary to become an ordained minister. From seminary he immediately devoted the next 40 years to pastoring various churches in Michigan and Pennsylvania. He also worked as an insurance adjuster later in life.

Bob was blessed with a curious and adventuresome nature and loved to explore the world around him. He was an avid biker, private pilot, gardener and loved taking care of his chickens. He was also deeply committed to his family and local church where he spent many years as a Sunday school teacher.

Bob is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sandra K. Myers; two daughters, Paula (husband Chris) Waterman of Castle Rock CO, and Mindi (husband Norman) Zylstra of Grand Rapids Mi, one son, Floyd (wife Angela) Rodery of New Cumberland, PA; two brothers, Greg Myers of Shippensburg, PA, and Dennis Myers of Enid, Ok; one sister, Beverly Polk of Spokane, WA and ten grandchildren David, Christian and Emma Clodfelder, Anna McQuade, Isaac and Jessica Zylstra, Alex, Alexis, Aliyah and Ariana Rodery, and three great grandchildren, Morgan, Nathan and Jordan.

Bob was known for his “dad” jokes, his love of travel and nature, but most importantly his love for the Lord. He was a pastor at heart and especially loved his time as a volunteer chaplain in the last years of his life. He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.

Funeral services and burial will be private due to the COVID- 19 pandemic. The family will have a celebration of life, open to the public, at a future date.

The family gratefully declines flowers, but memorial contributions may be made to the Greenvillage Church of God, 5614 Philadelphia Ave, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
