Robert Eugene "Bob" Markley

Robert Eugene “Bob” Markley passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024 at the Shippensburg Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

He was born on January 20, 1948 in Philadelphia, PA, the son of Robert Earle Markley and Marian Elizabeth Miller Markley. At the age of nine, he moved to Hershey, PA and graduated from Hershey High School in 1965. Bob also graduated from Shippensburg University (BS) in 1972 and Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (MS) in 1982. 

Bob was a member of Christ Community Church, Camp Hill, and the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion, Post #223, Shippensburg. Bob enlisted in the United States Army from 1967 to 1970 and was a veteran in the Vietnam War. After college, he continued serving in the US Air Force for 18 years as a Navigator flying in C-130s and in F-4s, and then retired as a Major in 1990. Bob enjoyed all types of sports, especially basketball, baseball, softball, and fishing. And he loved getting together with family to laugh and enjoy a good game of cards. 

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Constance “Connie” Corman Markley of Shippensburg; two sons, Richard Wayne Markley of Shippensburg and Steven Kent Markley and wife Gaylene of Murphy, Texas; and five grandchildren, Bryan, Sarah, Avery, Logan, and Emily Markley. 

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Judith A. Sears of Las Vegas, NV. 

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Per Bob’s wishes there will be no public viewing, visitation, or service. Bob will be privately laid to rest in the Spring Hill Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Levi Maciejewski Memorial Fund, F&M Trust, 13 Shippensburg Shopping Center, Shippensburg PA 17257.
