Robert E. Leidig, Sr., 83, of Newburg, died Sunday, April 10, 2011 in the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born February 26, 1928 in Greencastle, he was a son of the late Edgar J. and Catherine Mae Hykes Leidig.
He was a retired supervisor, working for over 46 years at Hoffman Mills in Shippensburg. Robert was a member of the Durff-Kuhn VFW Post # 6168, Shippensburg. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War serving as a Sergeant with Company C of the 72nd Tank Battalion.
He is survived by his wife, Janet H. Graham Leidig, one son, Robert E. Leidig, Jr. and his wife Deborah, two daughters; Sharon I. Askey and her husband Paul of Carlisle, and Renee E. Vanderau and her husband William of Newburg, one brother, Wilbur Leidig of Waterfall, one sister, Barbara Clark of Newburg, eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by one sister.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 14, 2011 in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg at 10:30 a.m. Officiating will be The Rev. E. Martin Bair. Burial with military honors conducted by the Shippensburg VFW and American Legion Posts will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The viewing will be Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
