Robert L. Florig, 96, of Shippensburg, passed away Friday, January 13, 2023 at his home.
He was born July 9, 1926 in Chambersburg, PA. Bob was a son of the late Lee and Ruth G. Stevick Florig.
He retired from SKF Industries where he was a Human Resource Manager. Bob was a WWII United States Army Veteran. He was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church, Cumberland Valley Lodge # 315 F&AM, Harrisburg Consistory, and Valley Forest # 145 Tall Cedars of Lebanon. Bob was on the Board of the Shippensburg Public Library for 27 years and a past President twice. He was a 1944 graduate of the former Shippensburg High School.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Timmons Florig and a sister, Mary Seavers.
Bob is survived by his wife, Beverly A. Zimmerman Florig, two daughters, Lynne Florig-Beck of Boiling Springs, and Laurie Scolaro of Andover, MA, three step-children, Michael Zimmerman of Shippensburg, Jeff Zimmerman and his wife Terri of York, and Jackie Kauffman and her husband Pete of New Cumberland, one sister, Doris Seibert of Orrstown, five grandchildren, Ian Kauffman, Robert Zimmerman, Sarah Scolaro, Emily Conn, and Olivia Leas; three great-grandchildren, Jack Zimmerman, Timothy and William Conn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Shippensburg, followed by Military Honors conducted by the Minutemen of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223, Shippensburg. Officiating will be Mother Barbara A. Hutchinson. A viewing will be held Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. in the funeral home with Masonic Services conducted at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be privately held in the Norland Cemetery.
