Robert D. “Bob” Porter, 79, of Greencastle, and formerly of Carlisle, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2025 at WellSpan York Hospital.

Born Tuesday, August 7, 1945 Philipsburg, Centre County, he was a son of the late Robert L. and Pearl R. Petrosky Porter.

Bob was a 1964 graduate of the Shippensburg High School. He served in the United States Army 1st Infantry Division “Big Red One” during the Vietnam War.

He retired as a construction superintendent at McCoy Brothers, with 35 years of service. He also worked for PP&G in Mt. Holly Springs.

Bob was a life member of the Amvets Post #224, Chambersburg. Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by five children, Holly M. (Heath) Newell, Bob D. Porter, all of Shippensburg, Alison E. (Andre) West, Carlisle, Anthony R. “Tony” (Jill) Porter, and Alex J. (Heather Shive) Porter, all of Mt. Holly Springs; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, twin William C. Porter, and Gerald Porter.

A Celebration of Robert’s life will be held Friday, April 25, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc., with Mr. Jack Adams officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223 Minutemen. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc.
