Robert Evan Brown, 92, of Shippensburg, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021, at the Chambersburg Hospital.
He was born on August 23, 1929, and was the son of the late Willis and Mattie Brown of Saltillo, PA. Robert was married to the late Emma Lee Brown (Winegardner), who passed away on June 29, 2016. They were married for 63 years.
Robert is survived by his niece Pamela Schofield and her husband Michael of Chambersburg; Godchild Laurie Turnbull and her husband Les, and their children Breanna and Cady Gipe of Chambersburg; nephew Glenn Winegardner, Jr. of McConnellsburg; brother-in-law Glenn Winegardner, Sr. and his wife Emma Jean; sister-in-law LaVerne Brown; brother-in-law Galen Winegardner and his wife Grace; niece Kim Rizzardo and her children Ashley and Tyler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Robert was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1951 and served in the Korean War. He was discharged in 1953 and held the rank of (T) Sergeant. He was a member of the Masonic Cromwell Lodge No. 572 for the past 60 years and was to receive his 60 year pin this year.
Robert retired from Letterkenny Army Depot in 1984, after 30 years of service. After retiring, Robert and Lee enjoyed traveling to Florida every year during the winter months to spend time at their home located in Ormond Beach. While in Florida, they enjoyed gathering with friends, playing cards, going out to eat, bowling, attending dog races, and traveling throughout the U.S. Robert had resided in Shippensburg for the past 54 years. Robert and Lee were the sweetest people that you would ever want to meet. Everyone that come into contact with them loved them.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. and Masonic services will be conducted at 9:45 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Shippensburg. Officiating will be The Rev. Dr. Francis H. Norton. Burial with military honors conducted by the Minute Men of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223, Shippensburg will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services in the funeral home.
