Robert Alspaugh

Robert Lee Alspaugh, II, of Shippensburg, died Monday, August 31, 2015 at home.

He was born June 8, 1958 in Carlisle, Cumberland County. Bob was a son of Pricilla N. Shaffer Alspaugh of Mechanicsburg and the late Robert Lee Alspaugh.

He was an active member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Shippensburg where he was on the Church Council and served as an Elder. Bob retired as a private contractor at Letterkenny Army Depot and also retired after 12 years of service as a PA Wildlife Conservation Officer. He spent six years with the Army National Guard.

He was a life member of West End Fire and Rescue in Shippensburg, where he was a former membership director and was on various other committees. Bob was an honorary member of both the Newburg-Hopewell Fire Company and the Friendship Hose Company in Newville. He was an assistant Cub Scout Leader of Troop 251, and an assistant Shippensburg Little League coach. Bob was a 1977 graduate of Big Spring High School.

In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Hope J. Kendall Alspaugh, three sons, Kory Alspaugh and his wife Jessi, and Nicholas Alspaugh all of Shippensburg, and Erick Booz and his wife Kelly of Newburg, six grandchildren, Ciera, Alexandra, Leea, Olivia, Isabella, and Myla, and one brother, Dwight Alspaugh of Mechanicsburg.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 10 a.m. in the Memorial Lutheran Church, Shippensburg. Officiating will be The Rev. Eric N. Anderson. Burial with military honors conducted by the Shippensburg Veterans Council will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 5-8 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Shippensburg and from 9 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. Saturday morning in church.
