Robert Alleman

September 17, 1947 — January 4, 2023

Robert D. Alleman, 75, of Newville, departed this life on the evening of Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at the Orrstown Personal Care Home, where he had resided for the past five months.

He was born on September 17, 1947, in Mifflin Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, a son of the late David and Mae (Stouffer) Alleman. Robert married Nancy L. Nelson on September 7, 1969.

Robert worked as a meat cutter for twenty-two years at Giant Foods, from where he retired. He then worked at the U.S. Army Carlisle Barricks Commissary, also as a meat cutter, from where he retired. In his free time he enjoyed woodworking and camping. Robert was a life member of the Friendship Hose Company No. 1; Penn Township Volunteer Fire Company No. 50; and South Newton Volunteer Fire Company No. 49; and spent countless hours volunteering his time toward their respective fire police units.

In addition to his wife of fifty-four years, Nancy, he is survived by two sons, Duane D. Alleman and wife Judy of Newville and Christopher J. Alleman of Carlisle; four grandchildren, Cameron, Darin, Tanner, and Stephanie; three great grandchildren, Carter, Ethan, and Henry; one brother, Fred Alleman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by four siblings, Simon and Charles Alleman, Edna Carbaugh, and Carrie “Toots” Negley.

The Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg, has been entrusted with his funeral arrangements. There will be no public viewing, visitation, or funeral service at this time. However, a celebration of Robert’s life is being planned to be held in the near future.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made in his name to any of the three fire companies that he spent so many years and countless hours of his time volunteering for.
