Ricky L. Ott, Sr., 57, of Shippensburg, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 3, 2019.

He was born September 12, 1961 in Chambersburg, PA. Rick was a son of the late Donald “Sonny” and Laura Varner Ott.

Ricky worked for the past 31 years for Knouse Foods in Peach Glen. He was a 1980 graduate of the Shippensburg Area Senior High School and was a member of the Shippensburg Fish & Game Association. Rick spent every Sunday working the starting line at South Mountain Raceway and helping his fellow racers. He was his children’s biggest fan during all their sporting events. Rick was helping his son Ricky, Jr. build a Chevy S-10 Dragster, and had planned on helping Travis build one with his Ford Mustang. He always supported all his children during their athletic careers. Rick was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a friend to everyone he met.

Rick is survived his wife of 31 years, Melody A. Laughman Ott; three children, Heather Nicole Keppley, Ricky L. Ott, Jr. and his companion Jen Davidson, and Travis D. Ott and his fiancé Kayla Forest; two sisters, Marjorie M. Chamberlin and her husband Ed, and Barbara L. Meeks; two grandchildren, Brady Ott and Logan Keppley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia M. Russell and one brother, Gary L. Russell.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Shippensburg. Officiating will be The Rev. Harold E. Yeager. Burial will be held in the Cleversburg Cemetery. A viewing will held Wednesday evening from 5-8 p.m. in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Road West, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
