Richard Allen “Rich” Young, 80, of Shippensburg, formerly of Easton, PA, passed away the evening of Monday, July 8, 2024 at UPMC West Shore.

He was born on Thursday, May 11, 1944 in Riegelsville, PA, Bucks County, a son of the late George Allen and Ethel May (Kinney) Young. He married Karen M. Scott on September 4, 1982.

Rich was a 1962 graduate of the Palisades High School. He worked as a manager for Riegel Paper for over 25 years until its closure. Rich then went on to work for AutoZone for 15 years as a district manager, as well as operating his own deli, Rich’s Deli. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War Era. While stationed in Alaska, he was a part of the Army Biathlon. An avid hunter, Rich was a member of the Big Run Hunting Camp and Wild Turkey Federation. He enjoyed kayaking, gardening, and most importantly loved his family.

In addition to his wife of 41 years, Karen M. Young, he is survived by four children, Rhonda Young and her fiancé Joseph Budnick, Jason Young and his wife Priscilla, Heather McAuliffe and her husband Dave, and Scott Young; three grandchildren, Tristen, Levi, and Morgan Young; and one sister, Barbara Xander and her husband Dave.

His arrangements have been entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. There will be no public viewing or visitation at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date and time at the Big Run Hunting Club in Mahaffey, PA.
