Richard Yost

September 23, 1947 — May 3, 2019

Richard A. “Rick” Yost, 71, of Shippensburg, departed this life on Friday, May 3, 2019, at his home.

He was born on September 23, 1947, in Reading, a son of the late Charles and Jacqueline Adams Yost. Rick was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, inducted on June 27, 1967 and honorably discharged on July 23, 1969. He married Linda L. Frankford on February 10, 1968, in Adamstown. She preceded him in death on April 23, 2014.

Rick worked as a truck driver for over twenty years, retiring from A.B.F. Freight in 2005. He was a member of the Durff-Kuhn V.F.W. Post #223, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #2500, and the Minnequa Social Club, all of Shippensburg. Rick was also an active member of the Central Pennsylvania Mustang Club of America.

He always liked driving, more so his classic muscle cars, which he had always had an interest in. Rick also liked to work on, modify, and improve his cars, which became his hobby, and then the cars developed into family projects. He loved working on the cars with his family and friends and also taking them to car shows. Rick never met a stranger and was a friend to almost everyone. Many people outside of the family lovingly called Rick either pap or dad.

He is survived by his son, Richard C. Yost and fiancé Kelly Miller of Shippensburg; his daughter, Shannon L. Yost and companion James Shields of Shippensburg; two grandsons, Jordan Yost of Shippensburg and Joshua Brosious of Shamokin; one brother, Alan “Butch” Yost of Mohrsville; one sister, Ann Louise Yost of Cumberland, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Rick was preceded in death by one sister.

His graveside funeral service, with military honors, will be held at 9:00 a.m., on Friday, May 10, 2019, in the Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Pastor Dennis Hudson will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6:00 pm. until 8:00 p.m., at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc., Shippensburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans (D.A.V.)
