Richard White

Richard C. “Dick” White, 67, of Pleasant Hall, died Saturday, March 26, 2011 in his home.

Born April 19, 1943 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Cecil and Marie Ripple White.

Dick was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Pleasant Hall and was a life member and past vice-president of the Pleasant Hall Volunteer Fire Company and a life member of the Friendship Volunteer Fire Company in Chambersburg. He was a member of the George Washington Lodge # 143 F. & A.M., and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge # 842 both in Chambersburg.

Richard retired from Penn Dot in Chambersburg, was a Franklin County Deputy Coroner, worked part-time as a Security Guard at the Beistle Company in Shippensburg and was a former Letterkenny Township Supervisor. He was a past president of AFSCME, a member of the Retired Employees of PA AFSCME Chapter # 13. His favorite job of all was when he portrayed Santa Claus for many-many years.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Nancy A. Foust White, two daughters; Kimberly A. McBeth and her husband Gary of Chambersburg, and Lori A. White of Shippensburg, two grandsons; Jonathan Acre of Chambersburg and Tanner White of Shippensburg, and one sister, Virginia Burdge of Fayetteville.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four sisters.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 30, 2011 in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg at 11 a.m. Officiating will be The Rev. Michael Baughman. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hall Cemetery. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening in the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. with Masonic Services conducted at 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorial Contributions may be made to the Pleasant Hall Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 115, Pleasant Hall, PA 17246.
