Richard Dale ‘Dick” Naugle, 71, of Fayetteville, died in the early morning hours of Sunday, September 28, 2014, at the Chambersburg Hospital.
He was born on August 19, 1943, in Chambersburg, a son of the late Myron Maynard and Olive Alda Doyle Naugle. Dick was a 1961 graduate of Shippensburg Area High School; went on to further his education at Florence-Darlington Tech, Florence, SC; and also joined the U.S. Air Force, enlisting in 1961 and honorably discharged in 1968.
Dick retired from ESAB in Florence, SC, where he worked as an engineer. He was a member of the Messiah United Methodist Church, Shippensburg and the Penn National Lions Club. He enjoyed singing in the church choir as well as with the “Penn National Singers”, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, whom he married on April 10, 1962, Peggy Louise Marks Naugle; three daughters, Teresa Marie Naugle of Taylors, SC, Chris Naugle Hansen and wife Joan Hansen of Windsor, CT, and Deborah Kay Naugle Keller and husband Mark of Denver, CO; granddaughter, Emma Jane Keller of Denver, CO; grandson, Henry Grant “Hank” Keller of Denver, CO; three sisters, Violet Elizabeth Hockenberry of Carlisle, PA, O. Jean Seavers (Abram) of Shippensburg, and Patsy Ann Weaver of Tulsa, OK; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by two brothers, Myron Maynard Naugle, Jr., and Robert E. Naugle; and one sister, Betty L. Naugle.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, October 2, 2014, at the Messiah United Methodist Church, Shippensburg. The Rev. Steven M. Livermore and Rev. Dr. Francis H. Norton will officiate. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home. A service of remembrance, by the Penn National Lions Club will be held at 7:30 p.m.
