Richard B. Miller, Sr., 81, of Shippensburg, died Monday, October 17, 2011 at his son’s home.
Born August 12, 1930 in Peters Township, Franklin County, he was a son of the late Earle G., Sr. and Esther Brindle Miller.
He was a member of the Shippensburg Church of the Brethren. Richard retired from Cressler Trucking in Shippensburg and previously drove truck for Ryder (PIE) Transportation in Hagerstown, MD where he was awarded the Million Mile Safe Driver Award. Years ago he worked construction with John Pattison, and had five trucks and was self employed for 15 years with T.M. Zimmerman, Chambersburg. Richard was a graduate of the Elizabethtown College.
He is survived by his wife Delores J. Varner Miller, one son, Rich B. Miller, Jr. and his wife Marilyn of Shippensburg, one step daughter, Misty A. Goodman and her husband Gary of Dallas, TX, four grandchildren, Justis, Bella, Pierce and Gianna Goodman all of Dallas, TX, one brother, Earle G. Miller, Jr. of Greencastle, two sisters, Hilda Eshleman and Marilyn Wishard both of Greencastle.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 20, 2011 in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg at 3 p.m. Officiating will be The Rev. Dr. J. Gerald Greiner. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services.
