Richard Mellott

Richard H. “Dick” Mellott, 75, of Newville, died Thursday, April 27, 2017.

Born Saturday, February 7, 1942 in Shippensburg, he was a son of the late William and Goldie May Barrick Mellott.

Dick was of the Protestant Faith. He retired in April of 1999 from Carlisle Syn Tec with 28 years of service.

Dick loved collecting antiques, going to auctions and yard sales, he loved his two cats and his pride and joy was his wife Edna and his family.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Edna Faye Hawkins Mellott whom he married January 28, 1961; two daughters, Karen L. (husband Irvin) Shaffer, Carlisle, Lisa M. (husband John) Stumbaugh, Shippensburg, one son, Thomas E. (wife Margie) Mellott, York; six grandchildren, Tara Owings, Justin & Michael Zucatti, Richie Mellott, Lauren Stumbaugh and Tommy E. Mellott, Jr, , six great grandchildren, two brothers, Robert and Roger Mellott, one sister, Judy Pechart, also surviving whom Dick considered his family are four sister in-laws Helen Aby, Glenna Smith, Irene McGill and Ethel Warner and one brother in-law, Wayne Hawkins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Richard Mellott and two brothers, William and Donnie Mellott.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 1, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium with The Rev. Philip Steele officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association Franklin-Fulton Chapter 1019 Mumma Road, Wormlesburg, PA 17043 or American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd Suite 1010 Rockville, MD 20852.
