Richard Mathna

Richard E. “Dick” Mathna, Sr., 77, of Newville, departed this world surrounded by his loving family on the evening of June 5, 2023. He was born June 19, 1945 to the late Daisy P. and Merle Mathna. In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Mathna, and two sisters, Joann Baker, and Martha “Sis” Varner.

Dick worked as a truck driver for many different companies and also spent time working in construction. He found joy in football, racing, and collecting models. Much of his time was also spent working in and around his home.

Dick is survived by his wife Sheila R. (Feister); three sons, Troy L. Mathna and wife Michelle of Shippensburg, Richard E. Mathna Jr. and wife Jeanette of Shippensburg, and Todd E. Mathna and wife Joy of Shermansdale; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Gary Mathna; one sister, Janet Ingram; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home in Shippensburg. There will be no public viewing, visitation, or funeral services. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to offset funeral expenses.
