Richard L. “Rick” Hoch, 70, of Shippensburg, passed away the evening of Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on Monday, July 20, 1953 in Chambersburg, a son of the late Lester C. and Edna V. Holtry Hoch.
Rick worked in maintenance at Hoffman Mills and later retired as a mechanic from Letterkenny Army Depot. He was a member of the Ridge Church of the Brethren and attended Lurgan United Brethren Church. Rick enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cooking. He also took great pride in his gardening and lawncare.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara D. Hoch of Shippensburg; three daughters, Sherri D. Hoch of Shippensburg, Jenni L. (Stephen) Wenger of Newburg, and Wendy S. (Joshua) Steffen of Clyde, OH; four grandchildren, Amber (Thomas III) Parrish, Tayler (Zach) Seibert, Seraphine Calhoun, and Jazzmyn (Adam) Low; three great-grandchildren, Claire Parrish, Laney Low, and Carter Seibert; and seven siblings, Beatrice V. Shoemaker, Vera M. Jones, Ruth A. Hockenberry, William L. (Darla) Hoch, Carol J. (Charles) Stoner, Ronald L. Hoch, and Robert W. (Debra) Hoch.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Jeffrey E. Hoch, Lester C. Hoch, Jr., and Paul L. Hoch; one granddaughter, Elisabeth Wenger; and his nephew, Shawn Hoch.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at the Lurgan United Brethren Church. Pastor Arthur Page will officiate. Burial will follow in the Lurgan Cemetery. There will be no viewing, however, there will be a time of visitation with family two hours prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the church.
